The Isle of Man branch of Santander UK plc is one of the Isle of Man’s largest deposit takers. Our presence in the Isle of Man can be traced back to the 1990’s when the businesses of Abbey National International (ANIL), Alliance & Leicester International (ALIL) and Bradford & Bingley International (BBIL) first opened their doors. Since then, we have won many awards including, most recently, ‘Best Offshore Account Provider’ award from Moneyfacts for 2010 2011 and 2012 for our savings accounts. These awards demonstrate our commitment to offering competitive and straightforward products for our customers.

Our timeline

In 2004, ANIL was acquired by Santander UK plc and an Isle of Man branch of Santander UK has continued to offer mortgages to local residents.

In 2008, the savings businesses of both ALIL and BBIL became part of the Santander Group. On 5 August 2011, the savings business of BBIL was transferred to ALIL ahead of the expiry of the Bradford & Bingley trademark licence.

On the 7 May 2013, the savings business of ALIL transferred to the Isle of Man branch of Santander UK plc, bringing together all aspects of the Isle of Man based mortgage and savings operations.
